Day Trip from London to Oxford

If you are in London, a day trip to Oxford is a great way to get out of the city and explore a bit more of what the UK has to offer.  Oxford is a quick train from Paddington or Marylebone, both having direct options.  If you plan ahead, you can get this very affordably, around £15 return.  If you get a direct train it will be about 1 hour 15 minutes.

Oxford is a University town- so embrace the historical sites.

Things to make sure you check out:

o   Bridge of Sighs

o   Ashmolean Museum

o   Christ Church, Oxford University

o   Bodleian Library

o   Radcliffe Camera

If you are looking to tour any of these places, especially Christ Church, I would book this in advance as this tends to be booked up.  I would also check to make sure that the library and other locations are open and available during your visit.   Also, if you love Harry Potter (like me) there are SO many places to check out, namely in the University.

When it comes to food, I would say go with the ever-classic pub, as they are brimming with history due some of the pubs dating back to 1242.  My two personal favorites would be The Bear Inn or Turf Tavern.  One for lunch and one for dinner?

What else did you manage to do on your trip to Oxford?
