Lake District – Why you should go!

With summer fully here, and many long weekends to be had over the next couple of months, it is the perfect time to consider a trip to the gorgeous Lake District.  If you love a good walk or even a challenging hike, having the time to reconnect with loved ones, you will find all of these things. Here, the towns offer quaint, quintessential British homes and shops. The Lake District is the perfect place to get away from it all for a bit, rest recharge and reconnect with nature and easy living.

My suggested method of traveling to the Lake District would be by car, in terms of convivence and efficiency.  If traveling from London, the Lake district is reachable by car in about four or five hours, depending on what area you are headed for.

I would figure out which areas you want to spend your time in. This can come down to what shops and restaurants you want to be close to or what areas you want to hike in.  Personal favorite areas to check out are: Grasmere & Windermere

For food- personally I kept it super simple and hit a bunch of the local pubs. Terrible of me that I did not record the name of a single one, but like I said, just pub hop!

Important things to remember:

-       It can be super humid, so dressing in layers is your best bet.

-       Prepare for many types of weather... rain, fog, cooler temperatures or heat

-       Service may be spotty, just be prepared

-       Roads are windy, know where you are going before you go

Sometimes we forget that the United Kingdom has so much more to off than just London!  So, if you have a few days you are looking for an adventurous, challenging trip, head to the Lake District!
