Travel Essentials

What deems something essential enough to earn a coveted space in the inches that we are allowed in our carry-ons? Obviously we all have our essentials, toiletries, clothes, sneakers the list goes on.  Here are the items that I deem worthy:

1.      Noise canceling headphones.  I can’t get on a plane without them.  As someone who makes every second of their day count, commuting time always included, noise cancelling headphones save my life.  Also, let’s be honest, sometimes travel time is relax and entertainment time.  Nothing is worse than the plane offering an Oscar nominee, but you can’t quite catch what they are saying.

I use a Bose pair, and yes, I agree, they are big and bulky but to me, they are worth the burden.

2.     Skincare Products: I love skincare and products in general The length of my trip does impact the amount of actual skincare products I lug around with me, but here are the ones that ALWAYS make the cut:   Jet Lag Mask from Summer Fridays, Kiehl’s eye creams both the Avocado and midnight recovery eye , Biosannce Squalane + Antioxidant Cleansing Oil, Charlotte Tilbury Cryo-recovery eye serum, Fresh Sugar Recovery lip mask, drunk elephant vitamin c serum, Elizabeth Arden 8 hour cream, still on burts bees, ouai dry shampoo

3.     Cadence Capsules: I am obsessed with these, and cannot rave about them enough.  They enable me to bring all my favorite products in pretty, convenient, travel sized containers.  The containers can be mixed and matched with colors and labels, and the colors they have are great.  These containers also allow you to actually get to all of your product, so nothing goes to waste.  Also there is no longer the need to waste money on travel sizes. Seriously, GO BUY THESE.

4.     MacBook: I take my laptop pretty much everywhere with me.  If I have 30 minutes to spare and have a spurt of creativity I really enjoy writing.  Plus, I prefer checking emails/ working from this to my phone or iPad (does this make me old?).  Also, this doubles as a form of entertainment if the plane does not have a TV.

5.     Liquid IV: Small, yet impactful, liquid IV has saved many a trip for me.  Whether I have had a bit too much to drink the evening before, or just really need to hydrate, it is always worth throwing a few into the bag! Personal favorite is Lemon Lime, though I am working my way through the flavors.

6.     Brics Carry On: I would be no where without my actual luggage.  When I started traveling I wanted to upgrade my luggage and decided on the Brics line.  Functionality is good, but to be honest I am here for the aesthetic, they are super chic (if you ask me).

7.      Stojo: This is a newer addition to my life, but its great.  I usually want to bring food with me, so I don’t buy something less than healthy at the airport.  Plus, airport food can be costly for what it is, so I pack my delicious lunch in this container and just collapse it when I am done with my meal.  Plus, saves on disposable waste!

8.     Slip Silk Sleeping Mask: Needed.  I need to sleep on flights otherwise I will lose time when I get to my densination being tired.  I also has to be a Slip Silk mask.  They are great for sleeping and for your skin!

9.     Simple Modern Tumbler: This purchase was very much @Tinx influenced, but I’d be lying if I said I am not obsessed with it.  I have always brought a reusable water bottle with me no matter want, but with this one I am really loving the color of the sage green, it makes me very happy!

10.   Cashmere Wrap: This might seems ridiculous, but hear me out.  Planes are COLD.  This wrap doubles as a blanket/ pillow/ travel comfort.  Additionally, it usually can make an outfit look a bit nicer if it needs a bit of an accessory, so it is well worth the splurge.  I switch between camel and black, but this one is my favorite.

11.     Camera: This is actualy dependent on the kind of trip I am going on and sometimes I just end up using my iphone.  But I switch between my canon and my GoPro, both are great!

12.    Tripod: Firm believer in you regret the pictures you don’t take and having a tripod for my camera and iPhone make it so easy.  In areas where no one else is, or times when it might be a bit odd to ask.

13.    Books: sorry still not on the kindle kick. I always make it a priority to read a lot, so down time during travel really helps that. Watch this space for some upcoming book recs!

14.    Sneakers: This is a must, as I am quite the pill if my feet start to hurt.  My weapon of choice is ALWAYS my new balance

15.    Tote: some sort of bag that can be my personal item/ can double as a purse when out and about.  Typically grab a Long Champ or something else that can also easily be packed itself.
