Clothes to Pack for Belfast
Living in London, I know that the British weather can be quite unpredictable to say the least. My experience with Belfast in the springtime has not exactly aligned, but either way, this is what I was prepared for. To be honest, the weather was warm and sunny the entire time, which apparently was not normal. I knew our trip would have us in the city and a bit by the seaside, requiring a bit more of 'adventurous' clothing to be brought, so keep that in mind when packing.
For any trip I try to be really realistic about what I am going to need while away. I LOATHE carrying items that I don't end up using for the entirety of a trip, so doing this definitely helps. Asking myself questions such as how many nights will we go out out or how many formal restaurants will I need to dress for. Most of the time what is needed for me is mostly daytime clothing.
Getting back to the task at hand here, when thinking of Belfast, the city itself was somewhat casual, so for me sneakers were an obvious choice. Not an athletic pair of sneakers, though I did end up using these for all of the countryside activities we did (more of a space issue in my bag than anything) and then one pair of ankle boots for dinners and evening in the city. Keep in mind whilst going around the country, you could really encounter muddy/ wet areas. I got lucky on my gamble, but you might want to consider this! I would definitely pack layers, and I really do mean this. Though it stayed sunny most of the time, if you know British weather, the temperature can change on a dime, and it really did. I packed a waterproof (which was needed briefly) as well as a cuter jacket that I could wear out, think a bomber jacket or a denim jacket. Though it was spring I really did have a jacket on majority of the time. I brought a few sweaters, which doubled as active wear as I didn't bring anything dedicated to exercising since it was more brisk walking than anything (again space in my bag). I also packed a few solid color t shirts and tank tops, that would hold their own under my coat or I could strip down to if it got too hot while walking through the countryside ( I am not someone who likes to get hot). Regarding pants, I would wear what you are going to be comfortable in. I brought one more casual and one for night time (this trip was over a long weekend). If you are going to head to the countryside, I would bring stuff to make sure ankles are covered as there can be tics.
Anything else you think you need to bring to Belfast?
