South Wales
Wales might not be on the top of everyone's must visit list, but as a girl curious about every corner of the world, visiting for me was a must. Whilst I am living in London, making a road trip out of it seemed like an easy choice. Maybe shocking to some, Wales is absolutely gorgeous, especially in the sunshine of summer. Possibly being mistaken for a tropical island at certain glances, with crystal blue waters, this place is an oasis from busy city life.
For my trip, focusing on the southern coastal areas was the goal. We started in the seaside town of Aberaeron, and let the road take us from there. Aberaeron is a cute little place, dotted with colorful shops and homes, facing a equally tiny and cute port. The beach has gorgeous winding coastal views, and an overwhelmingly peaceful vibe.
Sticking to the Wales Coastal Path for most of the time, you are met with grand vistas, scenic roads, high grass and the occasional sheep. This journey is not for those in a rush. Here you must succumb to a more relaxed pace, where cell phone service is scarce, as are normality’s from city life. Just before Abereiddy beach, you should make sure you stop off and see spots such as ‘the Blue Lagoon.’ There is something to be said for how overlooked the coastal beauty of Wales is, though it is not always sunny and blue skies, when it is, it is unmatched. If by chance you are a coastal grandma, as I would like to equate myself to, then this area is for you! If you have the chance make sure you check out the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park, for more of these grand coastal views. Due to the coast facing generally West, you will also be gifted some epic sunsets.
I now know where I will be renting a house if I ever need a very peaceful, wholesome week! What places do I need to check out next time?
